The London Chinatown Lions Club is delighted to be hosting the 16th Dragon Boat Festival with the continued support from The Hong Kong Executive Club. This again promises to be another spectacular and unmissable event in the Chinese calendar. We are thrilled to have the generous support by our principal sponsor The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.

With up to 40 dragon boat teams competing again this year, traditionally strong teams will be challenged by new corporate teams which will undoubtedly make for another exciting boat race. There are lots of programmes to keep all spectators entertained including live entertainment on stage, the Lion Dance, Kung Fu demonstration, children's' play area, crazy golf for the family, Batak Challenge to test your reactions, and a variety of stalls of cultural interests and activities. To build up the spirit of next year’s Olympic Games, there is a silent auction for a signed T-shirt by Sir Steve Redgrave and one by the current GB rowing team! Food and beverages stalls are also available throughout the day.

This year is also the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution, led by Mr Sun Yat San, who pioneered the Chinese democratic movement against the last feudalist Qing Dynasty. To commemorate this important period in modern Chinese history, the Boat Race winning team will be awarded the Xinhai Revolution Cup.

The London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival not only provides a fun day for all participants and spectators, it is also a charity event with the net proceeds of the Festival being donated to registered charities. This year our main beneficiaries are The Chinese Community Centre and Camden Chinese Community Centre.
